USB or Pen Drive is these days a widely used storage device for carrying images, movies and other data on the go. The advantage of a USB disk is that its small and offers large storage space when compared with CD or DVD media- also they are reusable. We know that Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP are available in a CD or DVD package or as an ISO download from the Microsoft store. Carrying a DVD is not that easy as carrying a USB pen drive.  There is a recent trend in the ultra portable netbook segment. Netbooks are usually not equipped with CD-DVD slot. So if you want to re-install Windows, Ubuntu Linux or any other Operating system in such devices, the most common method is the use of the backup copy pre-stored in the device. Otherwise we can use USB version of  the OS or an external DVD writer. Here we will show you how you can create a bootable USB  disk from a Windows 7, Vista or XP installer in a simple way.
First you need download or buy a copy of Windows 7, Vista or Windows XP.  Get a fast USB drive (2.0 or above) of size 4GB or more.

There are several free software tools available in the internet for making a USB version of Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP.  We have selected four applications and made an archive from them.  The archive includes Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool, UNetbootin, WinToFlash and WinToFlash.  Download the archive here and install an application of your choice. WinToFlash and UNetbootin support all operating systems.
Now format your Thumb Drive on NTFS file system. For that, right-click on your USB drive icon from the Windows File explorer>In the prompt box, select File system as NTFS and quick format. Create an .ISO image from your Windows  DVD and save it to a suitable location.

Open UNetbootin, and as shown above, select the option disk image and  point it to the location of the Windows 7, Windows XP or Windows Vista image file. Choose the required USB disk and click OK. The application will then extract all the files and will set up a USB bootable version of your Windows image. Restart Windows, Press F8 and boot from the USB disk to start your new installation.
In Novicorp WinToFlash, click on Windows Setup Transfer Wizard and select the location of  the USB drive and the Windows files folder.
The operation of Setup from USB and Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool are self explanatory.  Just follow the steps given within the installer and build your bootableWindows 7, Vista or XP USB edition.

Install Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP from Pen Drive -setup disk manually:
