To correctly pack, one must have a general knowledge about the climate and average temperature of one's destination to ensure that appropriate clothes are purchased and then taken with.
I've been doing a lot of shopping lately, and since it's the summer in Florida it hasn't been easy finding long-sleeved shirts, or shirts with sleeves at all for that matter. I did buy cardigans and shirts (appropriate for work) that have sleeves - it just wasn't an easy feat. Even when I shopped in New York the selection (of sleeved-shirts) was limited. Must be the summer season.
It seems, though, that the climate in Brasilia is so comfortably pleasant that it shouldn't be a problem that I'm not taking many long-sleeved shirts with me. And if I can't find enough clothes in the States that match the Brasilia weather, then I'll just find them in Brazil.
So what is the climate like in Brasilia? According to Brasilia-Brazil.info, the highlights are...
- mild and comfortable year round
- no winter season with heavy rainfall
- a cross between tropical savanna and temperate zone
- yearly average temperature is 69 degrees (20.5)
- there is a dry and rainy season
- reliably stable average temperature
- driest part of Brazil
Wikipedia.org chimes in and describes the climate in Brasilia as being...
- tropical savanna climate
- having "eternal spring" features
Personally, this is the kind of weather that I prefer - warm and dry. Little humidity. "Eternal spring". After living in Florida for 6 years, I am really looking forward to getting away from living in an oven (although I enjoy the sunshine most of the time). One more week!
